MUS 210 · Fall Semester
What It Takes
Membership
- Open to all JCSU students and students at subsidiary community colleges
- Selected by audition and Preseason Band Camp
- Enroll in MUS 210 each year of participation
- Scholarship recipients also enroll in Symphonic Band, MUS 211, in the spring
Winds & Brass Audition
- All major scales, minimum up to 4 sharps and 4 flats
- Chromatic scale
- Two prepared etudes, one lyrical and one technical
- Sight reading
- Candidates get up to two attempts to pass
Where We Perform
- Home and away football games
- Parades across Charlotte and the Carolinas
- Exhibitions, classics and Battle of the Bands
- Report 4–5 hours before kickoff on home game days
Rehearsal
- Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00–5:20 p.m.
- Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 4:00–8:00 p.m.
- Away game itineraries issued at the start of each season
